About Ray's Western Wear

In April 1957 Ray Steckelberg purchased a men's clothing store in downtown Chamberlain and over the years added western wear to the mix. In 1969 he doubled the size of the store and made it exclusively western wear, saddlery and tack. The store became Ray's Western Wear and Saddlery. In 1974 Ray's son Duane joined the business and in 1996 they moved the entire operation to Oacoma located between Al's Oasis and the Harry K GM Store. This last December Duane and Sheryl Steckelberg moved their 50 year tradition westward to Rapid City at exit 48.
